Description

Cataloged as the first doubled die obverse for the 2001 Philadelphia North Carolina State Quarter, WDDO-001 was attributed by the Wexler Team. The North Carolina quarter reverse celebrates the state's claim as "First in Flight" with a depiction of the Wright Brothers' historic 1903 airplane at Kitty Hawk, while the obverse carries John Flanagan's Washington portrait where doubled die effects manifest.
