2001 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-010

Description

2001-D WDDR-010 is a doubled die reverse on the 2001-D Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling shows along the lower right edge of the sixth column, left of the statue's legs, reaching from Lincoln's hand to below his feet. On the obverse, numerous small gouges (dots) appear around the date and the mint mark. A curved gouge lies beneath the N of IN, under its lower right arm, and a gouge oriented N-S sits under the first T of TRUST at its right edge. On the reverse, a gouge (dot) lies between the lower N and T of CENT, and a small gouge (dot) is in the upper part of Memorial bay 11. The N of UNITED has gouges in both its upper and lower openings, and a series of three gouges (dots) runs below the last A in AMERICA. John Shields submitted the variety.
