2001 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-009

Description

2001-D WDDR-009 is a doubled die reverse on the 2001-D Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling runs from head height down to below the feet along the left side of the seventh Memorial column, right of the statue. On the obverse, a strong gouge lies close to the front of Lincoln's jacket, at the height of the mint mark's base. Another gouge is on the jacket beneath the buttonhole, and two gouges sit just right of the second shoulder fold of the jacket. On the reverse, a strong gouge lies within the O of ONE, in its lower left opening, and two gouges sit ESE and SE of Lincoln's left foot. John Shields submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
