2001-D Doubled Die Reverse DDR-006

Description

Struck at the Denver Mint, this 2001-D Lincoln Memorial Cent DDR-006 presents medium spread to the southwest, creating an extra column at the seventh position — counted from the left of the Memorial facade — extending from the hand of the seated Lincoln down to the pedestal. An extra set of knees is visible on the statue, where the southwest displacement reproduced the small figure's lower anatomy as a secondary image offset diagonally from the primary. Cataloged by VarietyVista as UVC-3061 and DMR-007, the variety is documented across three die states: Stage A in early die state (unconfirmed), Stage B with reverse and obverse in mid die state, and Stage C in late die state (unconfirmed). The hand-to-pedestal extent indicates substantial hub displacement that reproduced a significant vertical section of the seventh column as a distinguishable secondary image. Column seven sits in the right half of the facade, and its doubling combined with the extra knees provides two independent diagnostics for attribution.
