Description

1998-D WDDR-016 is a doubled die reverse on the 1998-D Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. On the seventh column, right of the statue, an extended bar starts at the bottom of the knee and ends at the top of the base. Obverse Stage A: a die chip over the N in IN, a chip over the mint mark, and a chip inside the lower 9 of the date. Obverse Stage B comes from a new obverse die: a chip under the 1 of the date, a chip on the jacket fold NW of VDB, a horizontal chip over the B in LIBERTY, and a chip centered beneath the US of TRUST. Reverse Stage A: die chips over the center of the lower N in ONE and to its right; a chip under the right side of the Memorial base; and a chip left of the upper U in UNITED. On Reverse Stage B, the Stage A markers are all worn but can still be seen. Stage B also shows a chip inside the lower E of AMERICA, just touching its middle horizontal bar, and a chip right of column 12, roughly a third of the way down from the top.
