Featuring a bar extended from above the hand to the bottom of the knee to the right of the statue on the seventh column, this 1998-D Lincoln Memorial Cent WDDR-015 presents a distinctive doubling pattern within the Memorial's interior that creates an easily recognizable diagnostic. The bar-like feature results from hub displacement that smeared the fine design detail between the statue's hand and knee into a continuous raised line against the seventh column. Attributed by the Wexler Team and cross-referenced as Wexler 1998-D 1-cent WDDR-015, the variety carries die markers on both sides: on the obverse, a die chip appears southeast of the mintmark, while the reverse shows a die chip left of center of the upright of the T in CENT and a small die chip above the right memorial roof. These three markers across two surfaces provide reliable confirmation points for isolating the correct die pair. The statue-area doubling on Memorial cents is among the most sought-after diagnostic patterns because the Lincoln statue's small scale within the Memorial interior means any displacement produces visually dramatic distortion relative to the feature's size.
