1997 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-005

Description

1997 WDDR-005 is a doubled die reverse on the 1997 Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The left side of the seventh column, right of the statue's lower legs, is doubled, and a small partial extra leg lies between the lower legs. On the obverse, a gouge sits over the right side of the 7, and another touches the 7's crossbar from below, at its left end. A small gouge lies left of the middle of the 1, and a gouge touches the vest front south of the first 9. On the reverse, a SSW-to-NNE scratch lies in the gap between the final S of STATES and the O of OF, and a short scratch heads SSW off the bottom of that O. A gouge sits between the bottoms of the N and T in CENT. William Slaughter submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
