1995 (S) Proof Washington Quarter - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-001 / DDO-001

Description

DDO-001, which Wexler numbers WDDO-001, is a doubled die obverse on the 1995-S proof Washington quarter with light spread on the date, the ribbon end, the S mint mark and LIBERTY. Both catalogs list it as Cherrypickers FS-101, written FS-25-1995S-101 by Wexler. Wexler's Coins and Die Varieties sees the doubling on the date, the mint mark, the lower end of the ribbon and some of the lower hair detail. It records no significant die markers on either side. Mark Alvarez submitted the coin, and CONECA lists it as 1-O-II. VarietyVista credits Jim Carr with the report and notes the coin as copper-nickel clad. It tracks the die under UVC-1975 and DMR-003: stage A has both sides in an early die state, while a middle stage B and a late stage C remain unconfirmed.
