Description

Submitted by Keith Christenson, Wexler WDDR-021 on the 1994 Philadelphia Lincoln cent features an extra Memorial column in the 11th bay, with very weak possible extra columns in bays 2, 3, 4, and 10. What sets this variety apart is an exceptionally detailed die marker profile. On the obverse, a die gouge appears right of the bowtie, very thin east-west die scratches run above and below LIBERTY, a small die gouge sits left of the back of the bust, die gouges appear in and around the N in IN, multiple small die gouges cluster right of and below the R in TRUST, and a die gouge sits far right of the last T in TRUST. An additional obverse marker shows a small die gouge (dot) to the right of the bottom of Lincoln's coat. On the reverse, a thin NE/SW die scratch runs through the lower 10th and 11th Memorial bays, short die dents appear at the rim above ST in STATES, a thin die scratch extends WNW from the T in CENT, a small die gouge sits right of the bottom of the E in ONE, and a small die gouge (dot) appears below the right base of the Memorial. Cross-referenced as Wexler Variety ID 1994 1¢ WDDR-021.
