Description

Affecting the lower left side of the 6th Memorial column near the statue's feet, Wexler WDDR-018 on the 1994 Philadelphia Lincoln cent — submitted by Brian Ribar — reveals slight doubling in that area. While the doubling itself is minor, the reverse die marker provides a strong identifying feature: a die gouge extending from the rim SE of the designer's initials (FG). No significant obverse die markers were noted. On the obverse, a small die gouge appears on the lower front of the bust, and on the reverse, a large die dent extends NNW from the top of the Memorial just to the right of the M in UNUM. Collectors working through the 1994-P DDR series will note that WDDR-018 and WDDR-016 both affect the 6th column but at different positions — WDDR-016 on the lower right, WDDR-018 on the lower left. Cross-referenced as Wexler Variety ID 1994 1¢ WDDR-018.
