Description

Submitted by Brian Ribar, Wexler WDDR-016 on the 1994 Philadelphia Lincoln cent shows slight doubling at an angle on the lower right side of the 6th Memorial column, positioned to the left of the statue's legs. The doubling is subtle enough that die markers become essential for confirming attribution. On the obverse, die scratches extend north from the top of the second T in TRUST. On the reverse, a die scratch runs SSW from the bottom of the E in UNITED. No other significant reverse markers were recorded. The location of the doubling on the 6th column — one of the two columns flanking the seated Lincoln statue — places it in a visually significant area of the Memorial design, though magnification is needed to resolve the shifted column detail. Cross-referenced as Wexler Variety ID 1994 1¢ WDDR-016.
