Description

Extra thickness shows on the designer's initials, and separation lines are visible on the roof designs just above the columns as well as on the upper right Memorial on this 1994 Philadelphia Lincoln Memorial cent doubled die reverse. Notches show on some letters of USA — especially the lower right R in AMERICA and the upper left I in PLURIBUS — providing serif-level attribution details that confirm the direction and magnitude of the hub displacement. Designated Wexler Variety ID 1994 1¢ WDDR-005 and cross-referenced as Crawford CDDR-004, this variety's separation lines on the Memorial roof are a diagnostically valuable feature because the roof's horizontal architectural lines amplify even subtle vertical spread into visible doubled contours. The die markers span both sides of the coin. On the obverse, a short die gouge appears above the upper right T in LIBERTY, a short die scratch runs northeast from the tip of Lincoln's nose, and three die scratches are visible above the 19 in the date. On the reverse, a short die scratch runs east from the lower right side of the 8th column, and a die scratch cluster can be found in the center of the 3rd bay. The clustering of die scratches in the 3rd bay provides a distinctive reverse fingerprint for this die.
