1991 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-001

Description

1991 WDDO-001 is a doubled die obverse on the 1991 Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The date shows extra thickness, above all on the lower parts of the 9s, as does IN GOD WE TRUST. Separation lines appear in the hair at the upper front of the head. On the obverse, one gouge (dot) sits in the field halfway between the upper beard and the rim, and another halfway between the nose and the rim. Right of the upper O in GOD there is a gouge. On the reverse, a strong gouge lies beside the last column at mid-height, on its right, and a die crack heads NNW from the roof's left edge. On the left cornice, at the right end of its top, there is a die break (lump), and a gouge (dot) lies halfway between the second A in AMERICA and the designer's initials. Peter Beane submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
