Description

Carrying VarietyVista reference codes UVC-2914 and DMR-008, the 1989 DDO-006 exhibits medium extra thickness on the date and TRUST — the same general doubling profile as DDO-004 and DDO-005, but from yet another distinct working die. The UVC-2914 catalog number is notably higher than the 2415-2417 range assigned to DDO-003 through DDO-005, indicating this variety was added to the VarietyVista master catalog at a later date, after the initial group of 1989 doubled die obverses had already been numbered and sequenced. This gap in UVC numbering is a common artifact of ongoing catalog expansion as new varieties are discovered and submitted by collectors over time. The DMR-008 code — skipping from DMR-006 on DDO-005 to DMR-008 here — suggests at least one intervening variety (DMR-007) exists in the VarietyVista system, either assigned to a different DDO or reserved for a variety still under review. The medium extra thickness on date and TRUST continues the pattern of hub doubling concentrated in the lower-right quadrant of the obverse, an area particularly susceptible to showing displacement during the multiple hubbing operations used to create working dies. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint on copper-plated zinc planchets (97.5% zinc, 2.5% copper) at 2.5 grams and 19mm.
