Description

Second cataloged obverse pre-cud for the 1985-P Washington Quarter, PC-25c-1985P-02 documents a rim-area die crack on the portrait side of John Flanagan's design. The absence of an "R" suffix indicates this pre-cud affects the obverse — Washington's portrait and surrounding legends — where a die crack has isolated a rim-area fragment without that piece detaching or displacing during striking. Pre-cuds on the obverse of Washington Quarters are particularly noticeable when the crack boundary crosses the field near Washington's bust or intersects legends like LIBERTY or IN GOD WE TRUST, as the raised line disrupts familiar design elements.
