1984 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-002

Description

1984 WDDO-002 is a doubled die obverse on the 1984 Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST show strong extra thickness, with a spread toward the center. At obverse Stage A, a short gouge lies NE of the top of the beard. At obverse Stage B, clash marks appear left of the neck's back and as a line running from the vest to the date's 1. Scratches cross to form an X below the ER of LIBERTY, and many more scratches lie on both sides of the bust. On the reverse at Stage A, a strong diagonal scratch cuts through ONE's E, and a long diagonal scratch lies in the space separating the Memorial from the ON of ONE. At reverse Stage B, clash marks show in the third bay, over the Memorial's right side, and under its left side, and three curving scratches run SE off the upper right of UNITED's T. John A. Conway submitted Stage A, and Lou Coles submitted Stage B. Wexler lists no cross-references.
