1984 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-005 / DDO-002

Description

DDO-002, which Wexler numbers WDDO-005, is a doubled die obverse on the 1984 Philadelphia Lincoln Memorial cent. Both catalogs give it the Cherrypickers number FS-102 (038); Wexler writes it FS-01-1984-102. Wexler's Coins and Die Varieties describes a strong spread toward the center on IN GOD WE TRUST, LIBERTY and the date, on the lower bust at its right side, and on all the hair details on top of the head. It notes no obverse markers. On the reverse many north-south die scratches run through Memorial bays one to four and the last two bays, and remnants of a die clash lie in the fourth bay. John A. Conway submitted the coin, and CONECA lists the die as 2-O-II. VarietyVista, crediting Dwight Stuckey, describes the spread as strong on the date, the lower bust, LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, and uses marker codes UVC-2380 and DMR-003.
