Description

Cross-referenced as FS-101 (039) in the Cherrypickers' Guide, 1984-D DDO-002, which Wexler numbers WDDO-001, is a doubled die obverse on the Denver Lincoln Memorial cent. Wexler writes the number FS-01-1984D-101 (039). Wexler's Coins and Die Varieties describes a strong spread toward the center on the date and on the lower bust's right half, a closer spread toward the center on IN GOD WE TRUST, and extra thickness on LIBERTY. On the obverse a short diagonal die gouge lies well north of the E in LIBERTY; on the reverse a die gouge sits at the foot of the 12th column on its right, and thin die cracks descend the upper parts of the 12th and 9th columns. John A. Conway submitted the coin, with an improved photo from Sean O'Connell. CONECA lists the die as 1-O-II+VI; its Coppercoins number is 1984D-1DO-002. VarietyVista, crediting Coleen Davis, describes a strong spread on the date and lower bust, a light spread on the LIB of LIBERTY, and extra thickness on IN GOD WE TRUST. It uses marker codes UVC-2837 and DMR-005.
