1983 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Atypical Die Clash ADC-1C-1983-02

Description

ADC-1c-1983-02 is an atypical die clash on a 1983-P Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by Mad Die Clashes, which may have had three separate clash events. The obverse die was heavily abraded to remove the clash marks, but some remain behind Lincoln's neck. On the reverse, an extra-thick mark from the foot of UNITED's E into bay 3 of the Memorial points to repeated clashes, and the mark from the back of Lincoln's head is just as thick. The clearest evidence is under the right urn, where Lincoln's forehead left at least three separate marks. The coin belongs to Joe Koelling.
