1983 (P) Kennedy Half Dollar - Type I Counter Clash CCLTI-50C-1983-01
Error
Description
CCL(TI)-50c-1983-01 is a Type I counter clash on a 1983-P Kennedy half dollar, cataloged by Mad Die Clashes. The coin is sharply struck, with at least three sets of clash marks and no sign that the dies were abraded. Two of the clashes sit very close together, perhaps from die chatter (similar to machine doubling); the third was offset in another direction, which produced a clear counter clash from the eagle's left wing. Under Kennedy's chin are the rays, parts of the stars and the top of the banner; the same rays, parts of stars and part of the eagle's left wing show in another view. MDC also pictures a very strong mark from the eagle's left wing, marks from the bundle of arrows and from the back of Kennedy's head, and a strong counter clash from the eagle's right wing. The same dies later clashed twice more, listed as CCL(T1)-50c-1983-02.
