1983 (P) Kennedy Half Dollar - Atypical Die Clash ADC-50C-1983-02

Description

ADC-50c-1983-02 is an atypical die clash on a 1983-P Kennedy half dollar, cataloged by Mad Die Clashes. A strong, misaligned clash shows left of Kennedy's face; with no marks to the right of the bust, MDC suggests the obverse die may have been slightly tilted. The reverse carries symmetrical clash marks that are much weaker, possibly from abrasion. The obverse die was misaligned to the right when the coin was struck, and even further right at the moment of the clash. There is modest slide doubling on the back of Kennedy's head, a kind of machine doubling, made as the obverse die slid left after impact. Coin and photos are courtesy of Mike Diamond.
