Description

ADC-50c-1983-01 is an atypical die clash on a 1983-P Kennedy half dollar, cataloged by Mad Die Clashes. Both sides carry strong clash marks with no abrasion. The dies met three times: two of the clashes landed almost on top of each other, and the third sat about 10% off from the first pair. On the obverse, two widely separated sets of laurel leaves and pieces of the eagle's wing appear in front of and across Kennedy's face. The rays over the eagle's head show plainly under his chin, above WE TRUST, and part of the wing along with the clutched arrows sticks out from the back of his head. On the reverse, Kennedy's throat left a mark among the rays, the back of his head is visible between the arrows and the wing, and the top of his head appears, doubled, in the space separating HALF's F from DOLLAR's D. The coin was found by Aisha Shahid.
