The 1973-D Doubled Die Obverse DDO-003 is a doubled die obverse (DDO) variety, where a misalignment during the die hubbing process created visible doubling on the obverse design elements. This variety was discovered on the 1973 (D) Kennedy Half Dollar, part of the Kennedy Half Dollars Clad and Silver Proof 1971 to Date series. Die markers: UVC-211 DMR-004 Stage A: EDS (unconfirmed) Stage B: Obverse is MDS Small die gouge Left of the Left leg of the R of DOLLAR – MDS Stage C: LDS (unconfirmed). Mintmark is higher than on DDO-004. Can be found in Mint Sets.
