1972 Doubled Die Reverse DDR-001
Error
Description
Primary DDR for the 1972 Kennedy Half Dollar, showing light spread on STATES and rays with notches on most outer lettering. Die tracking: UVC-336, DMR-003. Stage A: EDS (unconfirmed). Stage B: MDS (unconfirmed). Stage C: reverse and obverse are LDS. The confirmed LDS at Stage C indicates this die served through its full production life. The 1972 Kennedy was produced in copper-nickel clad composition adopted in 1971 after the 40% silver-clad issues of 1965-1970. Cataloged by VarietyVista. Roberts' heraldic eagle reverse with detailed rays, stars, and lettering provides multiple zones for hub doubling documentation across the clad-era half dollar series.
