1972 Lincoln Memorial Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-011

Description

1972 WDDO-011 is a doubled die obverse on the 1972 Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. An extra horizontal bar appears under the L of LIBERTY. On the obverse, a gouge reaches WNW to the rim from the upper left corner of WE's E, and two strong gouges lie between the rim and the lower front of the bust. On the reverse, a strong scratch runs NNE from the lower right of the first Memorial column, and a small gouge (dot) sits beside that column's lower left side on its left. There is a small gouge (dot) under the E of UNITED, and small dots flank the T in CENT at its middle on both sides. Near the rim, right of AMERICA's second A, there is a small gouge, and inside the upper part of ONE's N there is a small gouge (dot). William Slaughter submitted the variety, and Brian Allen upgraded it. Crawford lists it as CDDO-011.
