Description

Struck as a proof at San Francisco, this 1971-S Kennedy Half Dollar DDR-003 shows medium spread on STATES OF AMERICA and the stars beneath those letters, along with doubling on arrow shafts and notches on AR of DOLLAR. The spread across inscription, stars, heraldic elements, and denomination demonstrates broad hub displacement. The obverse is classified as ODV-003, identifying the specific hub configuration for this die pairing. Stage A at early die state is unconfirmed. Stage B provides the key diagnostic: a small die gouge to the upper left of the A in STATES, with the obverse also in mid-die state. Stage C is unconfirmed.
