1970 (S) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Large Date - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-022

Description

1970-S WDDO-022 is a doubled die obverse on the 1970-S Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling shows over the crossbar of LIBERTY's L. At obverse Stage A, there is a small gouge under the left part of LIBERTY's R, and another small gouge over the 7 in the date. At obverse Stage B, traces of a die clash show to the left of the neck's back. On the reverse at Stage A, a strong scratch, oriented SSW/NNE, lies just left of the left roof; a clash mark extends south from the bottom of the Memorial, below the left post; and many other scratches are spread across the reverse. At reverse Stage B, more scratches, running east-west, appear left of the left roof. John A. Wexler submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
