Description
1970-S WDDO-013 is a doubled die obverse on the 1970-S Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling sits under the 7's horizontal bar and below both the top and the bottom of the 0. Obverse, Stage A: a twisting gouge, running mostly SSW/NNE, crosses the back of the forehead. Stage B: heavy abrasion of the die has left many scratches around the bust, mostly SW/NE. On the reverse, Stage A has a small gouge touching the lower left of the D in UNITED. In Stage B, heavy abrasion has produced a "detached roof" at the Memorial's left side. Frank Baumann submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
