Description

1970-S WDDO-008 is a doubled die obverse on the 1970-S Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling sits over the 7's horizontal bar in the date. On the obverse, scratches go north from LIBERTY, starting at the tops of its R, T and Y, and a scratch goes NNE from the bridge of the nose. On the reverse, die pitting shows right of the base of the I in UNITED. Parallel SW to NE scratches lie between UNITED's D and the 1st S in STATES, and north-south scratches appear in the 10th bay as well as on the right Memorial base, at its left side. Other scratches are spread across the reverse. Frank Baumann submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
