Description

An extra horizontal bar of the 7 shows above the normal 7 in the date. Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: A small die gouge (dot) can be found above the right side of the Y in LIBERTY. A small die gouge can be found between the centers of the T and Y of LIBERTY. Two short, strong die gouges can be found north of the E in LIBERTY. A short, horizontal die gouge can be found above the L of LIBERTY. A die crack runs from SSW to NNE through the hair above the ear ending at the top of the head below the W of WE. Obverse Stage B: Obverse is heavily abraded. The die gouges around LIBERTY are weaker, but still visible except for the die gouge above the right side of the Y. A die scratch runs north from the top of the head to the rim to the right of the E in WE. Parallel die scratches run NNE from the vest to the left of the date. Parallel die scratches run NNW from the top left E and top left R of LIBERTY. Reverse Stage A: A die gouge touches the top right 1st S of STATES. A short, horizontal die gouge can be found NE of the designer’s initials. Die pitting can be found to the right of the T in CENT. Reverse Stage B: A short but strong die scratch runs from SSW to NNE to the right of the top of the T in CENT. Die clash remnants run NW from the top of the left cornice, NE from the top of the Memorial below the US in PLURIBUS, and south from the bottom of the Memorial below the left post. Obverse
