ADC-1c-1968S-01 Below is a atypical clashed die example on a 1968S Lincoln Cent. On the obverse we see the memorial and some bays clashed at about a 5 degree rotation. Most details are in the fields. Unusually, part of ME from AMERICA can be seen clashed near the date. On the reverse we see a nice amount of Lincoln’s profile clashed. This die was found by Tom Wolter. Discovered by Tom Wolter, this 1968-S Lincoln Memorial cent features an atypical die clash where the obverse and reverse dies struck each other at approximately a five-degree rotation without a planchet between them. On the obverse, the Lincoln Memorial and some bays appear clashed in the fields, and unusually, part of the letters ME from AMERICA can be seen clashed near the date, an element rarely transferred during typical clash events. The reverse displays a clear impression of Lincoln's profile clashed into the design. Cataloged by MadDieClashes as ADC-1c-1968S-01, this variety belongs to a specialized category of die clashes where the rotation between dies produces design transfers in unexpected positions. The 1968-S cent holds historical significance as the first year the S mint mark returned to business-strike coinage after the three-year hiatus from 1965 through 1967 when Congress removed all mint marks.
