1967 Washington Quarter - Atypical Die Clash ADC-25C-1967-01
Error
Description
ADC-25c-1967-01 is an atypical die clash on a 1967 Washington quarter, cataloged by Mad Die Clashes. The dies clashed twice, shifted enough in direction between the events to leave separate marks. A misaligned obverse die struck the coin, and it was also struck through another coin, which left the dent near IN GOD WE TRUST; reeding from that other coin shows inside the dent, which would be absent had it been struck through a planchet. On the obverse, the top of the eagle's wing left two strong marks near WE, and wing feathers show behind Washington's queue. On the reverse die, Washington's chin and throat appear left of and below the eagle's beak, the area between his neck and queue left a mark (black arrow), and his nose left two marks left of and above the arrow tips.
