1967 Doubled Die Obverse DDO-001
Error
Description
Earning the premier FS-101 Cherry Picker's Guide designation, DDO-001 of the 1967 Roosevelt Dime shows medium spread on IN GOD WE TRUST, the designer's initials JS placed side by side, and the date, creating a multi-element doubled die affecting three distinct obverse zones. The side-by-side placement of John R. Sinnock's JS initials is specific to Roosevelt Dimes, and the doubling on these small initials provides a useful confirmation point alongside the more prominent motto and date spread. Attributed by VarietyVista with die markers UVC-502 and DMR-003, three progressive stages are documented: Stage A shows both obverse and reverse in early die state, Stage B at mid-die state remains unconfirmed, and Stage C in late die state awaits confirmation. The 1967 Roosevelt Dime was struck without a mintmark at Philadelphia during the 1965 through 1967 period when mintmarks were omitted from all United States coinage and no proof sets were produced. Struck in copper-nickel clad composition following the 1965 transition from silver, this premier Roosevelt Dime variety documents medium obverse spread on motto, designer's initials, and date during the mintmark-free era.
