1964 Proof Roosevelt Dime - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-005

Description

1964 WDDR-005 is a doubled die reverse on the 1964 proof Roosevelt dime, cataloged by the Wexler team. A counterclockwise (CCW) spread pivoting near 3:00 appears on E PLU, ONE and UNITED STATES. The obverse has a Blunt Tail 9; a gouge touches the 9's tail, and gouges sit under the left side of LIBERTY's E. On the reverse, a strong scratch lies on the rim under ONE DIME, a thin scratch extends NW off the torch bottom, and many short scratches sit under US in PLURIBUS. Two small gouges lie left of the upper part of UNITED's I, gouges extend from the rim over STATES's first T, another gouge sits under UNITED's U, and one lies in the lower opening of ONE's E. Gary Wagnon submitted the variety, with further markers taken from a coin John A. Wexler owns. Wexler lists no cross-references. The comments explain that the markers recorded and pictured come from a later stage than Wagnon's original coin (also pictured), on which no markers were recorded.
