1963 Doubled Die Reverse DDR-007

Description

Cataloged as UVC-407 and DMR-014 in the VarietyVista system, the 1963 Proof Roosevelt Dime DDR-007 exhibits strong spread on UNITED, medium spread on E PLU of PLURIBUS, and additional features including a split lower left branch, split olive stem, and notched corners. Struck as a proof in 90% silver, this variety's die stage progression documents three stages: Stage A shows both reverse and obverse at early die state. Stage B advances both to mid-die-state. Stage C is an unconfirmed late die state. The combination of lettering spread with split botanical elements and notched corners creates a multi-feature diagnostic pattern distributed across different areas of the reverse. The split lower left branch and olive stem are particularly useful diagnostics, as botanical element splits are often more visually apparent than subtle lettering displacement on proof surfaces.
