1963 Proof Washington Quarter - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-010

Description

1963 WDDR-010 is a doubled die reverse on the 1963 proof Washington quarter, cataloged by the Wexler team. An extremely close spread toward the center appears on the branches, AMERICA and QUARTER DOLLAR, and slightly on the tail feathers. On the obverse, scratches lie on the rim at the very top and bottom of the obverse, there is die damage at the rim under the 19 of the date, and a gouge separates the W in WE from the D in GOD. On the reverse, scratches run along the rim all the way around, weak die dents lie in the gap from the F in OF to AMERICA's first A, and the tail feathers show die pitting. John A. Wexler submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
