1963 Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-014
ErrorDescription
A counterclockwise spread from a pivot point at approximately 2 o'clock distinguishes the 1963 Proof Roosevelt Dime WDDR-014, with rotational doubling visible on UNITED, E PLU (E PLURIBUS UNUM), ONE DIME, and the bottom of the olive branch. Attributed by the Wexler Team with variety ID 1963 10¢ Pr WDDR-014, the reverse carries a diagnostic short vertical die gouge inside the lower U of UNITED, while no significant obverse markers have been noted. The 2 o'clock pivot produces maximum displacement opposite the pivot point — near 8 o'clock — with doubling diminishing as it approaches the pivot. This rotational pattern creates asymmetric separation across the design, making identification possible by comparing doubling intensity at different positions around the coin. The 1963 Proof Roosevelt Dime represents the second-to-last 90% silver proof issue and the second-to-last year of Philadelphia proof production before San Francisco resumed proof duties in 1968.
