1962 Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-046
Error
Description
A strong Class II spread towards the center shows on the date. Doubling also shows on the letters of TRUST, the nose, the lips, the chin, and the right edge of the bowtie. Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: A die gouge (dot) can be found below the R in LIBERTY. Two parallel die scratches run NNE from the top of the T in LIBERTY. A die scratch runs from SW to NE between the W and E of WE. Two parallel die scratches run NNE from the top of the 9. Numerous other die scratches can be found on the obverse. Obverse Stage B: Most Stage A die scratches have been abraded away. A small die gouge can be found between the tops of the L and I of LIBERTY. A short die scratch runs ENE from the top of the 1. A die scratch runs ENE from the upper right of the bowtie. Other die scratches can be found on the obverse. Reverse Stage A: A die gouge can be found below the Memorial south of the left post. A die gouge extends ESE from the top left of the N in CENT. A nearly horizontal die gouge can be found above and between the N and T in CENT. A long die scratch runs SSW from the bottom right of the A in STATES through the top left of the P in PLURIBUS through the lower left dot and down to the Memorial roof. Other die scratches can be found on the reverse. Reverse Stage B: The Stage A die scratches have been abraded away. A die gouge can be found below the left side of the 2nd A in AMERICA. Two nearly parallel die scratches run NNE from the top of the left cornice. Two parallel die scratches run SW from the left side of the left cornice and the top of the 1st column. Several die scratches run from north to south to the right of the right cornice. Die chips can be found on the last Memorial column. Other die scratches can be found on the reverse.
