Description

Cataloged by VarietyVista, the 1962-D VDDR-005 on the Jefferson Nickel displays light to medium spread on UNITED STATES OF AMERICA with the doubling intensity increasing from left to right across the inscription. The Jefferson Nickel, designed by Felix Schlag, was struck at the Denver Mint in cupronickel (75% copper, 25% nickel) at 5.00 grams and 21.2 mm diameter. Die markers from VarietyVista carry unresolved catalog codes (UVC-???? and DMR-00?), indicating this variety had not received final UVC assignment at the time of documentation, though it was sufficiently verified for inclusion in the VDDR listings. Three die states are documented: Stage A at EDS is unconfirmed, Stage B at Mid Die State shows two parallel die scratches extending east from the upper F of FIVE with the obverse also at MDS, and Stage C at LDS remains unconfirmed.
