Exhibiting very close Class II distorted hub doubling on E PLURIBUS and UNITED, the 1960 Proof Jefferson Nickel WDDR-013 records subtle secondary contours on Felix Schlag's Monticello reverse that require patient magnification to confirm. Class II doubling arises from physical distortion of the working hub between impressions, and the very close spread on this variety places it at the threshold of attribution — where careful comparison against a known normal specimen is essential. Reverse die markers provide critical confirmation: a die dot above the small left window and a second die dot inside the left arch of the Monticello portico. These architectural features of Jefferson's Virginia estate — the windows, arches, and columns — serve as reliable die identification landmarks throughout the Jefferson Nickel series.
