1957 Roosevelt Dime - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-001

Description

1957 WDDR-001 is a doubled die reverse on the 1957 Roosevelt dime, cataloged by the Wexler team. Every letter and the leaves show extra thickness, which is strongest on the oak leaves at the top and on the right. The nose's bridge has a die clash, and from that bridge a scratch runs NW into the field. On the reverse, two scratches, one north and one NNE, run from inside UNUM's first U into the oak branch and leaves. A long NNW scratch starts at DIME's I, crosses US of PLURIBUS and reaches the torch holder; a SW scratch leaves the bottom of STATES's second T; and many scratches lie over the top olive leaf. Joe Feld submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as 1-R-VI.
