Description
Class II, Distorted Hub DoublingA constant spread toward the center shows on E PLURIBUS UNUM. A close spread shows on OF AMERICA, where it increases from left to right. A close spread shows very slightly on the second O of MONTICELLO and the lower right side of the building. Stage B doubling is same as Stage A, but weaker from polishing.
Die Markers
- Obverse: Stage A: Short vertical die gouge between R and T of LIBERTY; die scratch near rim above WE; die scratch from rim over E of WE to first T of TRUST.Stage B: All Stage A markers polished off. Short vertical die gouge to right of upper portion of second T of TRUST; die gouge (dot) between upper portions of 1 and 9 of date.
- Reverse: Stage A: Short slanted die scratch below D of UNITED; small die dent to right of lower portion of second column.Stage B: All Stage A markers polished off. Die gouge (dot) in field midway between R of PLURIBUS and dome; die gouge
