1957 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-026

Description

1957-D WDDO-026 is a doubled die obverse on the 1957-D Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. An extra eyelid shows south of the normal one. The mint mark is a D/D Tilted (Rotated), listed by Wexler as WRPM-085. On the obverse, many scratches run NE from the bust front, and others run SW from the upper shoulder and lower head. Reverse markers: two scratches heading east from the left wheat ear and stem, low down; a scratch heading NW from the upper left of CENT's N; a small chip on the left wheat lines, at their upper left; a crack down the right side of the grains in the right wheat ear; and NW-SE scratches right of CENT's T. Brian Ribar submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
