A spread towards the south shows on the letters of LIBERTY and the 19 in the date.Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: A small die gouge (dot) can be found south of the tip of the nose. This die gouge can be found on all known stages of the obverse die. Die scratches run WNW/ESE near the bottom of the center fold in the vest. A die scratch runs SW/NE above the 9 in the date. A die scratch runs SSW/NNE north of the TY in LIBERTY. Several die scratches run SE from the underside of the chin. Obverse Stage B: The Stage A die markers are present but weaker. Obverse Stage C: The Stage A & B die scratches have been abraded away except for those near the bottom of the center fold in the vest. Numerous die scratches run SW/NE throughout the obverse. Obverse Stage D: A die crack runs NNE from the left side of the base of the bust through the arm and shoulder. All Stage C die scratches have been abraded away. Obverse Stage E: Remnants of a die clash run between the one in the date and the vest. Reverse Stage A: A die gouge can be found to the right of the upper left wheat ear. A die gouge can be found to the right of the left wheat stalk left of the center of the C in CENT. Reverse Stage B: The Stage A die markers are present but weaker. A small die gouge can be found south of the left side of the A in STATES. Reverse Stage C: Probable new reverse die. A die scratch runs NNE from the top right of the T in UNITED. Nearly horizontal die scratches can be found to the left of the C in CENT. A die scratch runs ESE from the top right of the E in ONE. Reverse Stage D: The reverse die has been heavily abraded removing all Stage C die scratches except for a few die scratched to the left of the C in CENT which are now very weak. A die scratch runs NE from the top of the 1 in the date. Obverse Stage B: Long parallel die scratches run from SW to NE through the RT in LIBERTY. Parallel die scratches run from SW to NE to the right of the lower ear. Obverse Stage C: Strong die scratches run SW from the back of the head. Numerous other die scratches can be found throughout the obverse. Obverse Stage D: A nearly horizontal die crack runs through the hair on the upper back of the head. A nearly horizontal die crack runs from the hair well into the upper forehead. Reverse Stage A: A die scratch runs SSE from the center of the E in AMERICA. Reverse Stage B: Same as Stage A but weaker. Reverse Stage C: Parallel die scratches run SSE from the N in UNITED to the upper right of the O in OF.
