Description
The 1957-D Doubled Die Obverse DDO-009 is a doubled die obverse (DDO) variety, where a misalignment during the die hubbing process created visible doubling on the obverse design elements. This variety was discovered on the 1957 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent, part of the Lincoln Wheat Cents 1909-1958 series. Die markers: UVC-1924 DMR-031 Stage A: Light die scratch from chin to 1 of date – EMDS Small die gouge dot to the Right of the Left wheat and almost centered on C of CENT – EMDS Stage B: Obverse and Reverse are MDS Stage C: Numerous find die scratches Northeast on Obverse – LMDS Die gouge dot has almost been worn away – LMDS Stage D: LDS (unconfirmed).
