Description
Extreme extra thickness and some separation lines shows on the letters of QUARTER DOLLAR, USA, EPU, the lower leaves and branches, and the lower wings of the eagles. Die Markers: Obverse: A die scratch runs from the lower right 1 northeast to the 9. Two parallel die scratches extend ENE from the bottom of the lower 6. A die scratch extends southwest from the bottom center of the L in LIBERTY. A die scratch curves northeast from the center of the B to the top of the E in LIBERTY. A die scratch curves southwest from the bottom left side of the E in LIBERTY. A very heavy die scratch runs from the top of the E to the top of the R in LIBERTY. A die crack runs east across the top of the forehead into the hair. Reverse: A short, vertical die scratch can be found to the left of the T in QUARTER. A short die scratch extends northeast from the lower right vertical bar of the 2nd L in DOLLAR. A die gouge can be found to the right of the tip of the eagle’s left wing. Vertical die scratches ca be found above the right end of the arrow feathers. A die crack runs down the edge of the eagle’s right wing. Obverse:
