Description
The 1955-S Doubled Die Obverse DDO-001 is a doubled die obverse (DDO) variety, where a misalignment during the die hubbing process created visible doubling on the obverse design elements. This variety was discovered on the 1955 (S) Lincoln Wheat Cent, part of the Lincoln Wheat Cents 1909-1958 series. Die markers: UVC-1862 DMR-012 Stage A: Strong die scratch West-Northwest from back of head – EDS Die chip in upper Left wheat grains – MDS UVC-1863 DMR-013 Stage B: Obverse is EMDS Reverse die changed – EDS Stage C: Die crack on lapel Southeast of button hole – LMDS Die crack lower Right wheat to rim – MDS Stage D: Obverse is LDS Heavy die scratches on Reverse – LMDS.
