1955 Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-002
Error
Description
A Class V CCW spread from a pivot at approximately 4:00 shows on the letters of IGWT, the eye, the lower ear, the letters of LIBERTY, and slightly on the date. Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: All of the doubling is well rounded and very distinct. Parallel die scratches run NNW from the top of the 9. Obverse Stage B: The die was well abraded and heavily worn. The doubling that remains has a very mushy appearance. Reverse Stage A: A die scratch runs from the T of CENT SE to the upper right E in STATES. Die scratches run SW from the tip of the right wheat stem. A die scratch runs NNW from the top of the N in UNITED. A die scratch runs SW from the upper left T in CENT. Reverse Stage B: A new reverse die is paired with the doubled obverse die. No significant die markers are noted.
