1955 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-013

Description

1955-D WDDO-013 is a doubled die obverse on the 1955-D Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Two doubled eyelids show to the south. Obverse markers: light diagonal scratches above the date; a scratch heading NNE from the front of the eyebrow; a series of diagonal scratches heading SW from LIBERTY's B; a gouge right of the lower part of IN's I; a horizontal gouge through IN's N and to its right; a series of mostly horizontal scratches through the tops of TRUST's TRU; a horizontal scratch heading west from the upper left edge of TRUST's U; a gouge on the upper left curve of TRUST's S; and a series of concentric scratches through the ear and to its right. Reverse markers: a short gouge on the upper right curve of CENT's C, with a light diagonal scratch behind the top of that C; a diagonal scratch through the central bar of CENT's E; a light diagonal field scratch well right of the lower part of CENT's T; and a diagonal scratch heading SE from the lower part of AMERICA's first A.
