Description

1955-D WDDO-012 is a doubled die obverse on the 1955-D Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. An extra eyelid lies below the normal one, and both T's and the U of TRUST are doubled to the west. Obverse markers: a gouge (dot) under the bow tie; a NW/SE scratch at the back of the head; a gouge (dot) between IN's N and GOD's G; and a dot left of TRUST's S. Reverse markers: a concentric scratch at the rim over PLURIBUS UNUM, with short concentric scratches all over the reverse; a gouge right of the top of CENT's T; a curved gouge above the right side of STATES' last T; and a curved gouge below AMERICA's last A. Brian Keith Sims submitted the variety. VarietyVista lists it as VDDO-004.
